Half a Library Roll

This afternoon Ryan and I met in Fredericksburg with road bikes to head out on the Library Roll route.  As we were gearing up the wind blew Ryan's bike over and we noticed the rear derailleur was not looking good.  Just as we were getting to work fixing it, a bike mechanic rolled up in his Mini Cooper.  It was Roger, nice timing!

Turns out Roger was going to do a long rail trail ride to Glenmont and back.  We rolled out together and rode with Roger to Holmesville where we turned off to start some hill climbing.

 Roger on the rail trail.

As we navigated the back roads enjoying the scenery we occasionally spotted the road markings from the actual Library Roll that was a month ago.  At least once there was a route change from our map to the most recent ride.  We followed the road markings and picked up an extra climb into Mt. Hope.

Now that's horsepower.

The weather was perfect.  It was sunny, cool, and the wind was not much of an issue.  It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in Amish Country.  Perfect day for a ride.

I always remember this section of road.  Look
close and you'll see Ryan up ahead.

 Rolling.

Low angle, fall sun.
