Clouded Sunset

Came home from work and headed to chase a sunset.  Well, not really chase as I was riding east towards Moreland hill.  I figured that would be a good destination to reach as the sun was going down and maybe get another good sunset picture from this point of high ground.

This time my headlight battery was fully charged and ready to go, unlike the night ride I did a couple weeks ago where it was flashing low battery before I reached the end of the driveway.  That one was not good planning.  Ready to go this time.

 Got pumpkin?

I made it to Moreland hill knowing the sky was not setting up for a good sunset.  Atop the hill I pulled over and looked west to see mostly clouds.  Oh well, it was good motivation to get me here.  I turned south and came back via Graber Rd, switching on my light about halfway home.  It was a nice, quiet ride back home.

Half a Library Roll

This afternoon Ryan and I met in Fredericksburg with road bikes to head out on the Library Roll route.  As we were gearing up the wind blew Ryan's bike over and we noticed the rear derailleur was not looking good.  Just as we were getting to work fixing it, a bike mechanic rolled up in his Mini Cooper.  It was Roger, nice timing!

Turns out Roger was going to do a long rail trail ride to Glenmont and back.  We rolled out together and rode with Roger to Holmesville where we turned off to start some hill climbing.

 Roger on the rail trail.

As we navigated the back roads enjoying the scenery we occasionally spotted the road markings from the actual Library Roll that was a month ago.  At least once there was a route change from our map to the most recent ride.  We followed the road markings and picked up an extra climb into Mt. Hope.

Now that's horsepower.

The weather was perfect.  It was sunny, cool, and the wind was not much of an issue.  It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in Amish Country.  Perfect day for a ride.

I always remember this section of road.  Look
close and you'll see Ryan up ahead.
